George Hendry, a grape grower since 1939, began producing his own wines in 1992, carefully crafting wines to highlight the terroir of the vineyards.Made by the Varner brothers in Paso Robles in the Central Coast region, this unoaked Cabernet Sauvignon was fermented in stainless steel tanks which preserves the freshness, aromatics, and delicious fruit-forwardness. Notes of jammy berries and cassis with well-integrated tannins and a long finish.Zinfandel 90%, Petit Syrah 10%. A superb Zinfandel and great value, with plenty of dark, spicy, focused fruit flavours and brambly notes. Fermented in stainless steel moderates the alcohol and power, making a great, easy-drinking BBQ wine.Fruit from Hendry Blocks 2, 27 and 9B located on cool bench lands west of Napa town influenced by fog and afternoon seas breezes. Pretty floral and stonefruit aromas. Flavours of tart green apple and nectarine, with tangy lemon acidity on the long finish. Pair with light dishes with bold flavours.Pale yellow colour. Aromas of crisp lemon cookies and nectarine. On the palate it is light-bodied, layered and soft-edged, showing lime, baked golden and green apple, and nectarine skin flavours, with sweet fruit, pith and bright acid on the finish.Barrel aged in 2-3 year old oak for 11 months. Medium ruby-garnet. Pretty floral, strawberry and caramel aromas. The light-to-medium bodied palate shows cranberry and red berry fruit, balanced tannin and acid, with black tea on the finish. An excellent, savoury, everyday Pinot Noir.Medium ruby with a hint of violet in the glass. Dark berries, smoke and grape skins on the nose. The medium-bodied palate offers tangy blackcurrant, dark berries and cocoa, with firm tannins. Aged for 18 months in French oak, with 10% new. Excellent with burgers and meat BBQ.A fruity, spicy and dry, easy-drinking Zinfandel. Medium ruby. Sweet berries, honey-butter, cedary oak, tea and spice on the nose. The medium-bodied palate is bright and spicy with good structure, with berry, cranberry, jam and spice flavours, finishing with baking chocolate and bright acidity.Lemon yellow. Sweet baked apple and floral aromas, with soft and dusty oak, and toasted marshmallow/burnt sugar notes on the nose. The medium-bodied palate shows nectarine and apple fruit, passionfruit acid, with lemon zest on the finish. Excellent with salmon and creamy pastas.[92pts James Suckling]Opaque, deep ruby. Though subtle, there is beautiful textbook Cabernet fruit in the initial aromas, with pleasant berry/dark cherry, herbal elements and soft oak. Full-bodied, with balanced acidity and approachable tannins, and a long, vibrant finish. Aged 21 months in French oak, 90% new.[95pts Wine Enthusiast (Cellar Selection)]Medium ruby. On the nose, it is soft at first, then surprisingly floral, transitioning to mouth-watering berry and orange rind notes. Fruit and acid are in balance on the palate, with moderate levels of each. Tannins build up slowly with each sip, but are never overwhelming, finishing with a bright tang.
