From their first release they won awards, and have never looked back. The heavier textured soils of Block 1 always produce less citrus and mineral focused aromas. Nectarine and apricot with notes of freshly grated ginger dominate both the aroma and flavour. The purity of the fruit is astounding and leads to a seamless integration of the residual sugar and acidity.A surprisingly overt nose of citrus flowers, elderflower and crushed stone. The palate, by contrast, dances rather than shouts with white peach, citrus and florals woven around a centre spine of acid. with hints of brioche. The dance settles to a seamless saline and mineral finish, pure to the very end. (See page4 for more details.)Citrus blossom, lemon zest and elderflower aromas typical of the lower lying, sheltered and east sloping Block 2. The palate introduces delicate white peach and melon, leading to a very pure and restrained mid-palate. It is fine, elegant and transparent, the schist soils making their mark. (See page4 for more details.)The more exposed and north facing slope of Block 6 counters the higher elevation, contributing to ripe fruit and bold expression. Initially tightly woven, it opens to reveal intriguing nutty and brioche notes. Impressive breadth and depth, with a mineral freshness brightening the long seamless finish. (See page4 for more details.)A pale rose gold from free-run juice with no skin contact, the Pinot Noir origin is apparent in the wild strawberry that leads the nose and contributes to a broad and textural palate. Red berries sit amongst a background of crushed almond. Surprisingly complex, yet delightfully approachable and lingering. Fruit from four Bannockburn vineyards. A classic nose of dark blossoms, rose and violet with a compote of dark fruits. Black cherries and cream on the nose lead into cherry crumble and baked spice notes on the palate. Very harmonious, a brooding undertow reveals its intrinsic power.[96pts The Real Review]This 2021 is as fine as it gets. Perfumed floral notes abound on a backdrop of dark fruits, Indian spice and a savoury earthiness. The 20-year old vines provide a distinctive and consistent vineyard expression. Floral, subtle and harmonious, with finely chiselled tannins - all hallmarks of Calvert.[95pts Jamie Goode]The 15th vintage and most mature Cornish Point to date, with 25% fermented in whole clusters, and aged in French oak for 13 months, 25% new. Vibrantly fruited, voluptuous and rounded mouthfeel, together with a rare structural complexity. Indulgent but serious tannins demand closer attention.[98pts The Real Review]Dark fruit and cocoa lead a saturating and brooding bouquet. The palate is similarly intense, yet showing openness and immediate silky appeal. Sandalwood, dark chocolate and cranberry lingers on a sustained and immensely impressive finish.[96pts The Real Review]Displays all the characters you expect from great Riesling - lemon, lime, apple, honey, white peach and spring flowers. Time in the bottle has given subtle, toasty aromas while the palate is bright, crisp and elegant with just a touch of sweetness to provide balance.1279812573127931279612797125741225812263122641226512101Dry Riesling S’23Riesling Block 1 S’22Central OtagoRiesling Alc.10.0% RS 52.4g/LChardonnay Bannockburn S’22Central OtagoChardonnay100% Alc.13.9% Chardonnay Block 2 S’22Central OtagoChardonnay Alc.14.0% Chardonnay Block 6 S’22Central OtagoChardonnay Alc.13.9% Vin Gris S’22Central OtagoPinot Noir Alc.14.1% Pinot Noir Bannockburn S’21Central OtagoPinot Noir Alc.13.9% Pinot Noir Calvert S’21Central OtagoPinot Noir Alc.13.5% Pinot Noir Cornish Point S’21Central OtagoPinot Noir Alc.14.4% Pinot Noir MacMuir S’21Central OtagoPinot Noir Alc.14.6% Riesling S’18MarlboroughRiesling100% Alc.11.2% RS 8.92g/LLawson's Dry Hills
